Just 6,116 came out to Belmont Park on a damp Saturday afternoon, with three graded stakes on the card, two on the main track and one over hurdles. Just five entered the $150,000 Gallant Bloom Handicap (G2) for distaffers going 6 1/2 furlongs, but it was a contentious field, with Classy Mirage 4th place finisher Cuaba sent off as the 2-1 favorite over Mongo Queen winner 5-2 Princess Janie and Capades winner Jazzy at 3-1. 7-2 Pussycat Doll and 5-1 Great Intentions completed the field.

Great Intentions and Pussycat Doll contested the early pace through fractions of 22.55 and 45.66, with Jazzy stalking in third to their outside. Entering the stretch, Great Intentions tired allowing Pussycat Doll to inherit the lead with a furlong to go. However, Jazzy had closed the gap on the leaders and prevailed in deep stretch to win by 3/4 length over late-running Cuaba in 1:16.71 over the fast track. It was just 1/2 a length back to Pussycat Doll in third.
