The first stakes race on Saturday was the $250,000 Garden City Breeders' Cup Stakes (G1), a 1 1/8 mile trip over the inner turf course. A field of eleven 3-year-old fillies went to post in this prep for the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf, with Lake George winner Magnificent Song sent off as the 3-1 favorite over 9-2 Chaibia, making her first U.S. start since shipping over from France.

9-1 Quite A Bride was loose on the lead through respectable fractions of 23.33, 47.17, and 1:11.91 over the "good" course. Entering the stretch, she faded from contention while 5-1 Take the Ribbon made her move to the front, taking the lead with a furlong to go after a mile in 1:36.55. Favorite Magnificent Song, who raced in last early, was closing well after being angled out wide by jockey Garrett Gomez, and she ran by everybody in the last 3 furlongs to win by 2 lengths over Take the Ribbon in 1:48.48. It was just a length back to 7-1 Jade Queen in third.
