Winning trainer John Kimmel (blue shirt, third from the right) said that Timber Reserve was originally scheduled to go in the Travers but he opted for this easier spot instead. He explained, "We felt the 1 1/4 miles off his limited experience against the big boys was probably unwarranted. We waited the extra time even though it became a six-week interval between races. He rewarded us with a big, game effort."
