Travers Stakes weekend closed out on Sunday with the $400,000 Personal Ensign Stakes (G1) for fillies and mares going 1 1/4 miles on the main track. The weather was much improved from Saturday with no rain, clearing skies, and warmer temperatures drawing a crowd of 18,014 spectators. Delaware Handicap runner-up Icon Project was sent off as the 9-5 favorite with Go For Wand Handicap runner-up Miss Isella the second choice at 5-2. Unbridled Belle, third in last year's running of the Personal Ensign, was the 4-1 third favorite.
Weathered and Unbridled Belle contested the early pace of 23.81, 47.62, and 1:11.31 with Icon Project out wide in third in stalking position. At the 1/4 pole, the pacesetters tired allowing Icon Project to easily gain the lead through a mile in 1:37.04. Swift Temper, who was unhurried back in 6th down the backstretch, closed late but was left with too much ground to cover as Icon Project easily crossed the line 13 1/2 lengths ahead in 2:02.37 over the good main track. It was another 5 1/2 lengths back from Swift Temper to Morena third.
