Only five 3-year-old fillies went in the $150,000 Lake Placid Stakes (G2) at 1 1/8 miles on the inner turf. Even-money favorite Wait a While stalked the pace of 22-1 longest shot Art Show through slow fractions of 48.99 and 1:12.35. At this time, jockey Garrett Gomez urged the favorite to go to the lead and she did, powering away to a 5 1/2 length lead in mid-stretch. 11-10 second choice Lady of Venice made a futile run from last early, but Wait a While had gotten the jump on her and easily held her off to win by 4 3/4 lengths in 1:46.59. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back to 7-1 third choice Dancing Band in third.
