The co-feature on Saturday August 12 at Saratoga is the $200,000 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Breeders' Cup Handicap (G3). A field of just six older horses entered this 6 furlong sprint, with Tom Fool and Deputy Minister runner-up War Front sent off as the 9-5 favorite, with Godolphin entrant Afrashad the 2-1 second choice.

Afrashad was quickest at the start and battle with Bishop Court Hill during the backstretch run through a quarter in 21.90. Turning for home, War Front surged to the front and drew away through the stretch to win by 2 1/2 lengths over late-running Canadian invader Judith's Wild Rush, completing the 6-furlong feature in 1:10.21 over a fast track. 3-1 third choice Mass Media was third, while Afrashad finished fourth.
