Closing out the 2006 International Festival is the $400,000 Secretariat Stakes (G1), featuring six 3-year-old colts going 1 1/4 miles on the turf. Barclay Tagg sent out 1-2 favorite Showing Up for owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson, winner of the Colonial Turf Cup in his first turf start last out. 7-2 Go Between, winner of the Virginia Derby, and 6-1 Ivan Denisovich rounded out the top three on the board.

Showing Up was all business right away, going right to the front and dueling with Go Between through a half in 47.83. At the top of the lane, Go Between was tiring badly and dropping from contention, while Showing Up surged ahead to a 4 length lead with a furlong to go. Ivan Denisovich put in a late run but was left with too much to do, as Showing Up easily held him off to win by 1 1/2 lengths. It was 4 1/2 lengths back to 10-1 shot Primary in third. The running time was 2:00.09, which was 1.24 seconds faster than the Million over the same distance.
