2006 Haskell Invitational Day at Monmouth Park

In the $150,000 Taylor Made Matchmaker Stakes (G3) for older fillies and mares, James Scatuorchio's Ready's Gal, the 5-2 second choice, caught the pacesetting Humoristic coming into the stretch and then held off the late-running Prop Me Up to win by a half a length. Ready's Gal stopped the timer in 1:48.77 for the 1 1/8 miles on firm turf. Winning jockey John Velazquez said, "There wasn't much speed and I had a ton of horse turning for home." Ready's Gal is now two-for-two at Monmouth. She won the Little Silver on grass here last year. It was the second stakes score of the year for the 4-year-old daughter of More Than Ready who won the Grade 3 Hillsborough at Tampa Bay in March.
