8-1 shot My Typhoon was loose on the lead early through fractions of 47.94 and 1:12.22, while being stalked by 9-2 Sweet Talker down the backstretch. Entering the stretch, My Typhoon faded from contention allowing Sweet Talker to take over the lead with a furlong to go. However, Angara, who raced in fifth early, was able to find running room late and charged through the stretch to get up by a head in a time of 1:49.20. It was just a nose back to Argentina in third, while Lade of Venice finished a disappointing fifth.
