The first Saturday of the 2008 Saratoga meeting featured four Breeders' Cup Challenge races, earning winners a guaranteed spot in the field of the respective World Championship race. The $500,000 Diana Stakes (G1) featured a field of 10 older fillies and mares looking to gain entry in the Filly and Mare Turf. Wait a While was sent off as the slight 3-1 favorite in this 1 1/8 mile Mellon Turf Course event, exiting a win in the San Gorgonio at Santa Anita. Dynaforce was the 7-2 second choice off a runner-up effort in the New York Handicap, over 6-1 third choice Rutherienne, third in the All Along at Colonial last time out.

Bayou's Lassie was loose on the lead by as many as 5 1/2 lengths while setting a pace of 23.47, 46.98, and 1:10.93, with Dynaforce settling in behind in second. At the top of the stretch, the pacesetter Bayou's Lassie tired to an eventual 6th place finish, allowing Dynaforce to inherit the lead, getting a mile in 1:34.73. Forever Together, who trailed the field for the first 5/8 mile, came out 5-wide into the stretch and closed with a rush on the outside to get up by 3/4 length, completing the distance in 1:46.52 over the "good" turf. It was a long 3 1/2 lengths back from Dynaforce to late-running Rutherienne third.
