Revved Up came into the race off a 2-race win streak including the Thomas Turf Classic at Tampa Bay, but failed to show any rally in the Northern Dancer finishing sixth as the 8-5 favorite. Jockey Brice Blanc said, "He just didn't handle the track. He didn't fire. He had a little kick at the top of the stretch, but that's it." He had not raced on a soft course since September 2003 when he was seventh in the Red Smith at Aqueduct.
