On the undercard of the Dwyer, four 2-year-old colts went to the gate in the $100,000 Tremont Stakes. 1-5 favorite Out of Gwedda stumbled badly at the start but once he got into stride he was all business. Taking over the lead after three furlongs, he drew away through the stretch to win by 2 1/4 lengths over Gonzo Bonzo Beans in 1:06.66 for the 5 1/2 furlong sprint. Winning rider John Velazquez said, "He broke and the second jump, he just disappeared. He got up, I gave him a little slap and he just started running. I just sat against him and he responded. I didn't have to beat him up or anything." Trainer Todd Pletcher added, "You always fear something going wrong at the start. Luckily, he was good enough to overcome it. He's a pretty quick colt and with a cleaner break, probably would have been right on the lead."
