Belmont Park's Independence Day weekend closed out with two Grade 2 events. The $150,000 Dwyer Stakes (G2) for 3-year-olds on Tuesday was a reunion of Triple Crown hopefuls, including Kentucky Derby last place finisher Keyed Entry, Blue Grass third place finisher Strong Contender, and Snow Chief Stakes winner Da Stoops. Only 7,207 were on hand that afternoon. 2-1 second choice Strong Contender stalked the pace of 9-5 favorite Keyed Entry through a half in 46.58, then closed along the inside to win going away by 7 3/4 lengths in 1:45.24 for the 1 1/16 mile main track feature. 10-1 Doc Cheney was second and 5-2 third choice Da Stoops was third, while Keyed Entry faded on the turn to finish last.
