The $400,000 Suburban Handicap (G1) is for older horses at 1 1/4 miles on the main track. Pimlico Special winner and 6-5 favorite Invasor stalked the pace of Noble Causeway and Wilko through 3/4 in 1:11.29 after bobbling at the start, and then took over at the top of the stretch and drew away under a hand ride to win by 4 1/4 lengths over 7-2 second choice Wild Desert in a time of 2:01.23. It was a length back to Andromeda's Hero in third, and a long 4 1/2 lengths to Noble Causeway in fourth. Winning jockey Fernando Jara said, "I asked him a little bit at the 3/8 pole and then he just ran up to the leaders on his own. I was very confident in this horse. Kiaran has done such a great job with him. It's been a great month winning the Belmont and now the Suburban."
