The final stakes race on the card was the $100,000 Charlie Barley Stakes for 3-year-olds going 1 mile on turf. 7-1 shot Ice Bear and jockey David Clark sat mid-pack down the backstretch off the fast pace of 23.18 and 46.15 set by 17-1 Prince Atlantis, then had to split horses at the 3/16 pole after encountering traffic trouble on the turn. Once he broke through, he pulled away to a convincing 2 1/2 length victory over 7-2 Payday Peril in a time of 1:33.82. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back to 21-1 Artie Hot in third, and a neck back to pacesetter Prince Atlantis in fourth. 3-1 favorite Get Rich Quick was never in it, breaking last of all and racing at the back of the field the entire trip to finish last.
