In the $750,000 Stephen Foster Handicap (G1), 92-1 longshot Seek Gold rallied
from last at the top of the stretch of a half-mile pace of 47.08 to just catch
11-1 shot and 2004 winner Perfect Drift by a nose at the line, finishing the 1
1/8 miles over a fast track in 1:49.24 before a stunned Churchill Downs crowd
of 12,056. The $2 win payoff of $185.40 easily set a new record mutual for
the Foster in its 25-year history. Co-owner Kristy Couch said, "Ron wanted to
see how he would do against some stiff competition. You have all these famous
names you keep hearing. We came over here and it's almost like joke to me.
When I saw those colors coming, I was sick. It's just so hard to believe."
