The field and the spectators in attendance faced this snow squall mixed with rain and strong winds during the running of the Bourbonnette. It was fitting that a Canadian-based filly would prevail. Winning trainer Mark Casse said, "I wasn't too concerned about her running off the layoff. I told (owner) Mr. (Robert) Wilson that she likes the Polytrack, and if she gets beat its not because she's short." The weather was frequently changing, with sun, dark clouds, rain, snow, and ice pellets all occurring over such a short period of time. The only consistent factor was the cold temperature and the brisk winds. However, thanks to Polytrack, the track remained fast throughout the afternoon.
