Jockey Robby Albarado sent Turfiste to the front down the backstretch through fractions of 22.59 and 46.38, with Chamberlain Bridge and Country Day stalking him early. Turfiste tired at the 3/16 pole, allowing Chamberlain Bridge to open up a 1 1/2 length advantage with a furlong to go. Country Day came out for room and closed the gap but was too late as Chamberlain Bridge easily held him off by 3/4 length at the line, completing the trip in 1:04.29 on the firm course. It was another 2 1/4 lengths back to Wise River third.
Winning jockey Jamie Theriot said, "We got off slow but his foot was quick to get underneath him and he found a good starting position on the backside. The first part was tough but once we passed the half-mile pole I had a lot of confidence and a lot of horse underneath me."
Trainer Bret Calhoun added, ""Absolutely. He's always quick away from there. He's a horse that kind of wants to do things his way and I guess they started handling him a little bit in there and I think he got a little bit aggravated in the gate. this horse just decided it wasn't time to go and just sat back and got away a step slow."
