The $250,000 Sunshine Millions Oaks at Gulfstream featured three-year-old fillies going 6 furlongs on the main track. Blitzing was sent off as the 6-5 favorite in the 10-horse field over 5-2 second choice American County and 5-1 Phantom Income. When the gate opened Edgar Prado sent American County to the lead immediately and she set quick fractions of 21.81 and 44.82. Entering the stretch, Validain put in a challenge but American County found another gear and drew away from the competition, winning in gate-to-wire fashion by 1 1/4 lengths over Robbie's Gal in 1:10.38. It was another 1 1/2 lengths back to Validain in third, while 6-5 favorite Blitzing failed to fire and was ninth.

Winning jockey Edgar Prado said, "She went easy on the backside and really picked it up coming for home. Dale said just to let her have her head in front and see if they can catch her."

Trainer Dale Romans added, "It was easy. She went so fast early, and everybody was trying to keep up, she just put them away. She trained well and we were always pointing for this race. Blitzing (the favorite) has beaten us before, but I guess she didn’t show up today."
