The first stakes race on Sunday was the $150,000 Durham Cup Stakes (G3) for older horses going 1 1/8 miles on the Polytrack. Jockey Patrick Husbands sent 5-4 favorite Delegation to the lead first time by and he set fractions of 25.45, 50.59, and 1:15.18. Entering the lane, Delegation opened up by 2 lengths through 1 mile in 1:38.65, and easily held off late-running 9-2 City Wolf for the 1 1/4 length win in 1:50.60. It was a long 4 1/4 lengths back to 4-1 James Street third.
