There were two other Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win and You're In" races on the undercard of the Canadian International at Woodbine. The $1 million E.P. Taylor Stakes (G1), contested at 1 1/4 miles over the turf course, earns its winner an automatic entry in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Siyouma was sent off as the 5-2 favorite in the field of 13 off her win in the Sun Chariot Stakes (G1) at Newmarket. In to challenge her included 3-1 second choice Dream Peace, third in the Flower Bowl (G1) after finishing second in the Diana (G1), and 9-2 third choice Princess Highway, winner of the Ribblesdale (G2) 3 starts back at Royal Ascot but seventh in the Prix Vermeille (G1) last out.
Jockey Mirco Demuro sent 24-1 Kapitale to the front and she set slow fractions of 25.83, 50.53, 1:14.93, and 1:39.20 over the good turf while pressed by 30-1 Stars to Shine. At the top of the stretch, Kapitale tired as favorite Siyouma, who had stalked the pace in fifth, swept by the pacesetters to take the lead. Siyouma drew off to win by 1 3/4 lengths over 13-1 Pagera in 2:03.04. It was just a neck back to late-running Dream Peace third.
Also on the card was the Canadian International (G1).
