The first race on the card was the $65,000 Straight Line Stakes for three-year-olds going 1 mile around one turn of the Polytrack. 30-1 Priceless Shore battled for the early lead with 7-1 Hogy and even-money favorite Hammers Terror through fractions of 24.13, 47.28, and 1:11.80. Hogy gained the lead midstretch through 7/8 in 1:24.18, but 9-2 Francois, fifth early, closed 4 wide late to win by 1/2 a length over 11-2 Sweet Luca in 1:37.02. It was another length back to Hogy third, while favorite Hammers Terror was another 1 3/4 lengths back in fourth.
On to the 2012 Arlington Million and American St. Leger Stakes won by Little Mike and Jakkalberry.
