The $100,000 Instant Racing Stakes featured a field of 9 three-year-old fillies going 1 mile. Morrow Cove was sent off as the 6-5 favorite over 8-5 second choice Glinda the Good and 11-2 Zapper Belle.

20-1 Scat Baby battled for the lead with 25-1 Soonerette and 33-1 Run Wild through early fractions of 23.49, 47.02, and 1:13.02 over the fast track. Entering the stretch, Glinda the Good,. who was seventh early, swept to the front 5 wide and drew off late to win by 3 lengths over late-running 15-1 Amazing Shoes in 1:39.44. It was another 2 1/4 lengths back to 53-1 longest shot Keewaitin Ice third.
