Juveniles were featured at Delta Downs on Saturday night. The highlight race of the card was the $200,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes for 2-year-olds going 1 mile, and is a local prep for the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot Stakes (G3) run on November 19. My Adonis was sent off as the 3-5 favorite in the field of 8, exiting his maiden win last out at Monmouth Park. In to challenge him included 4-1 second choice Tiz Moe off his debut win at Hoosier Park, and 9-2 third choice Top Cat Boogie, a close second in the Sunday Silence Stakes last out after winning the Louisiana Cup Juvenile, both at Louisiana Downs .
Top Cat Boogie battled for the lead with 51-1 longest shot Flashy Kid through fractions of 23.14, 47.87, and 1:13.27, while being stalked by My Adonis a length back in third. Entering the stretch, the pacesetters tired as My Adonis inherited the lead at the 3/16 pole, with Tiz Moe giving chase. My Adonis drew off in the stretch to win by 5 1/4 lengths in 1:40.56 over the fast track. It was another 3 lengths back to Flashy Kid third.
