Friday's feature race at Saratoga was the $200,000 Bernard Baruch Handicap (G2) for older horses going 1 1/8 miles on the inner turf course. Fourstardave Handicap (G2) winner Get Stormy was sent of as the even-money favorite in the field of 7, over Fort March (G3) winner Baletti at 9-2 and Fourstardave third place finisher Whatsthescript at 5-1.
National Kid went to the front first time past the stands and he set fractions of 23.81, 47.23, and 1:10.90 over the firm going while as many as 2 1/2 lengths in front of favorite Get Stormy in second. On the far turn, Get Stormy closed the gap on the pacesetter, taking over a short lead at the 1/8 pole through a mile in 1:34.63. Get Stormy drew off through the final furlong, winning by 2 3/4 lengths in 1:46.70. It was another length back from National Kid to late closing Radical Sabbatical third.
