The $2 million Pattison Canadian International (G1) is the richest horse race in Canada, and is one of three "Win and You're In" stakes events to be run over Woodbine's E.P. Taylor Turf Course on Saturday, each earning its winner an automatic berth in the corresponding Breeders' Cup Championship race at Santa Anita. The International, contested at 1 1/2 miles, is a major prep for the Breeders' Cup Turf. Entries were taken and post positions were drawn on Wednesday at a special lunchtime ceremony. Canadian figure skating champion Patrick Chan was on hand as the honorary drawmaster, randomly drawing the entry sheets while racing secretary Steve Lym drew the numbered pills, in the traditional "double blind" draw system.

The only 3-year-old in the race, Jukebox Jury, named after the 1960's BBC television show, drew the 7 hole and is 5-2 on the morning line set by handicapper Jennifer Morrison. Jukebox Jury won the Grand Prix de Deauville in France and then the Preis von Europa in Germany. Hayley Kelley, head travelling girl for trainer Mark Johnston said, "In his stable, he's really laid-back. You wouldn't even think he's a colt. He's an absolute gentleman in his stable. Outside, his only fear is lightbulbs for some reason. Apart from his little quirks, he's fine. He's a very talented horse." Royston Ffrench, who has been aboard for all of his starts, gets the call again. Last year's winner Marsh Side was disqualified from 1st to 4th in the Northern Dancer, the major local prep for the International, and is the 7-2 second choice out of post 5 for tyrainer Neil Drysdale and jockey Javier Castellano. The horse Marsh Side interfered with, Champs Elysees, is also in this spot as the 4-1 third choice. He drew the rail for owner-breeder Juddmonte Farms, jockey Garrett Gomez and trainer Bobby Frankel, the same connections behind Woodbine Mile winning mare Ventura.

Immediately before the International, a field of 8 fillies and mares will go 1 1/4 miles on turf in the $1 million E.P. Taylor Stakes (G1), presented by Emirates Airline, with the winner earning an entry in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf. Matron Stakes winner Rainbow View is the 8-5 morning line favorite over 3-1 Look Here and 7-2 Princess Haya.

The first stakes race on Saturday is the $500,000 Nearctic Stakes (G2) at 6 furlongs on the turf for older horses, a Win and You're In event for the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. Maryland Million Turf Sprint 3rd place finisher Heros Reward is the 7-2 morning line favorite over 4-1 Chamberlain Bridge and 8-1 Storm Treasure.

Entries for the entire card are available from Equibase.

The Pattison Canadian International is the 10th race in an 11-race card at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday, going to post at 5:40PM ET. ESPN2 (TSN2 in Canada) will broadcast all three Woodbine stakes races live in high definition in a 2-hour telecast from 4-6PM ET, including the Emirates Champion Stakes (G1) on tape delay from Newmarket, England. As always, the races will be available at simulcast outlets across North America as well as on TVG Network in the U.S. and HPI-TV in Canada. The Nearctic is race 8 with a 4:23PM post time, followed by the E.P. Taylor as race 9 at 5:03PM.
