Winning trainer Doug O'Neill said, “He’s such a nice colt. He has so much natural speed and he handled himself like a seasoned pro. We will probably look somewhere at Santa Anita after the first of the year. Maybe the Bob Lewis Stakes.”
The distaff counterpart to the Jackpot is the $500,000 Delta Downs Princess Stakes (G3) for 2-year-old fillies going 1 mile. 9-2 Salamera and 18-1 Unhedged battled for the lead through fractions of 23.49, 48.49, and 1:13.85 before tiring. 5-2 second choice Rose to Gold, who tracked the leaders in third, passed them to win by 1/2 a length over late-running 25-1 Touch Magic in 1:39.39. It was another 2 1/4 lengths back to 11-1 Sittin at the Bar third, and 2 1/2 more to 7-5 favorite Madame Cactus fourth.
