Zenyatta runner-up for AP Female Athlete of the Year
Undefeated Breeders' Cup Classic winner Zenyatta came in second behind tennis superstar Serena Williams in the voting for the Associated Press' Female Athlete of the Year for 2009. Zenyatta will make a farewell appearance for her fans on December 26 at Santa Anita before heading to Kentucky for breeding.
2009 Graded Stakes List
The American Graded Stakes Committee has assigned graded status to 487 races for 2010. 15 races were upgraded, with 3 new Grade 1 races including the Arkansas Derby, 6 new Grade 2 races, and 6 races moving from ungraded to Grade 3. Get the details here.

The 2008 Sovereign Awards
Winners of the 2008 Sovereign Awards, the Canadian thoroughbred year-end championships. Fatal Bullet was named Champion Sprinter and Horse of the Year. His owner Danny Dion of Bear Stables also won Outstanding Owner in Canada. Trainer Mark Casse won for Outstanding Trainer, and jockey Patrick Husbands won for Outstanding Jockey.
2007 Sovereign Awards
Winners of the 2007 Sovereign Awards, the Canadian thoroughbred year-end championships. Sealy Hill was named Champion 3-year-old Filly, Champion Turf Female, and Horse of the Year. Her owner Eugene Melnyk also won Outstanding Owner in Canada, her trainer Mark Casse won for Outstanding Trainer, and her jockey Patrick Husbands won for Outstanding Jockey.

2008 Alex Picov Memorial Championship at Ajax Downs
Sunday September 21, 2008, was the final day of the season at Ajax Downs, a small quarterhorse track in Ontario. The current unique "J" shape track will be torn out to build a new 5 furlong oval in time for racing next year. Included is the results of their first ever graded race, the Alex Picov Memorial Championship (G3).
