Winning trainer Hiroyoshi Matsuda said, "I am greatly honored to be able to win this prestigious G1 race. He had come off an unlucky defeat in his last start but we just carried on towards his next start in this race and he responded well. After making a good start and rated in a good position in a pace that was neither fast nor slow, I thought that he may have made his move at the stretch too early, because
he was often beaten in such cases. However, he held on well till the very end this time." Matsuda is the first trainer to wins both the Japan Cup Dirt (in 2004 with Time Paradox) and the Japan Cup.
