Broke his maiden at Laurel last year. Won an allowance at Gulfstream for his 2008 debut, then was 3rd in the Risen Star Stakes at the Fair Grounds behind Pyro. Went to Aqueduct next and won a very sloppy Gotham Stakes by a nose over Texas Wildcatter. Only made a mild rally in the Blue Grass to finish 4th 6 1/4 lengths for his final prep. In the Kentucky Derby, he raced near the back of the field 16 lengths off the pace, and passed some tiring horses late to finish 12th beaten 22 3/4 lengths.
