Jereme's Jet wins the 2005 Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Pace

The $575,400 2-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Pace saw 5-2 second choice Jereme's Jet stalk the pace of 2-1 favorite Palone Ranger down the backstretch, then closed in the final furlong to get up for the 1 length win over 4-1 shot Western Cyclone in a time of 1:52.1. Palone Ranger faded in deep stretch to finish sixth. Jereme's Jet almost did not make the race. Assistant trainer Joe Frasure said, "Friday morning his hock was as big as his head and his ankle was blown up. We spent three hours at the (New Jersey Equine Clinic) on Friday morning. They took an x-ray, and it came out negative. Dr. (Patty) Hogan drained (the hock) and bandaged him up. I took the bandages off this morning, hosed him for two hours and it was perfect. We were 50-50 to race him." Dr. Hogan is well-known as the veterinarian who treated eventual Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Smarty Jones.
