In the $555,000 3-Year-Old Colts and Geldings Pace, 2-5 favorite Rocknroll Hanover ended his career a winner. He sat off the early pace of 3-1 second choice American Ideal through 3/4 in 1:21.4, then took over the lead with a furlong to go, easily holding off the late charge of 14-1 shot Leading X Ample for the 1 1/4 length win in a time of 1:49.4 for the mile. It was just 1/2 a length more to 17-1 shot Gryffindor in third. "He's just an awesome horse," said Brett Pelling, the all-time leading trainer at the Meadowlands who is moving to Perth, Australia next month. "He's been a dream. This is my last Crown, and he was the one and it's just a memory I'll cherish forever. It's been a great career." Rocknroll Hanover retires with a 15-for-26 record and earnings of over $2.7 million.
