The Breeders Crown action kicked off on Saturday night with the $250,000 Open Mare Trot. Peaceful Way was bet down to 2-5 favoritism over 5-2 Housethatruthbuilt. Driver Trevor Ritchie settled Peaceful Way back in fourth for the backstretch trip, as 8-1 third choice Windylane Hanover led the field through a half in :56, with Housethatruthbuilt 1 3/4 lengths behind in second. On the turn, Ritchie asked Peaceful Way for her rally and got it, as the favorite powered away to a 2-length lead with a furlong to go. 25-1 longshot Mystical Sunshine made a valiant rally from eighth but was no match for the favorite, as Peaceful Way hit the line 1 1/4 lengths clear in a time of 1:53.1. It was 1/4 length back from Mystical Sunshine to Housethatruthbuilt in third, and 6 more to Windylane Hanover in fourth.

Trainer Dave Tingley said, "She answered the critics here in a big way, silencing them. This is probably the most nervous I've been watching her race, just because the race has eluded us for two years in a row. She's a great horse and just an amazing mare." Driver Trevor Ritchie said, "Once we settled down I moved her down the backstretch, we began to roll. She's not a one-trip pony, she can be very handy. She started to ease up a little in the lane but if there had been another horse coming and she heard or saw it, she would have been stronger. She's a very smart horse"
