The $100,000 North America Cup Consolation features horses that did not qualify for the rich final. 10-1 Bay of Sharks and driver Mario Baillargeon led most of the way through fractions of 26 2/5, 54 3/5, and 1:21 4/5, with 5-2 favorite Arctic Warrior in the pocket trip third. Bay of Sharks continued to lead to the 1/8 pole, but Arctic Warrior closed well to get the win by a head in 1:49 3/5. It was another 3 1/4 lengths back to 3-1 second choice Lisagain third.
