In the second division, 7-1 Jeremy's Successor set the early pace of 25 4/5 and 52 4/5 while 1 3/4 lengths in front of 68-1 Corky Baran. The lead pair tired on the far turn, as 6-1 Bettor Sweet took over the lead while being chased by 11-10 favorite Vintage Master through 3/4 in 1:20 3/5. 5-2 second choice Won The West, followed by 20-1 Blueridge Western, came out wide into the lane to pass the tiring frontrunners. Won the West finished 2 1/2 lengths in front of Blueridge Western in 1:48 1/5, and it was another 1/4 length back to Vintage Master third.
Winning driver David Miller said, "I let Danny (Dube, driving Vintage Master) get around me and I was third-over before he (Won The West) kicked in. I thought he would race good. He's a good horse who shows up every time, and he's a horse I appreciate."
