Elimination winner Tom Ridge was made the 5-2 favorite for Saturday's $1 million Hambletonian at the Meadowlands Racetrack after drawing post six on Tuesday.

Trained by Jimmy Takter and driven by the Meadowlands leading driver, Ron Pierce, Tom Ridge won gate-to-wire in 1:52.3 last Saturday, the fastest elim victory in Hambletonian history. Tom Ridge is named for the former governor of Pennsylvania and current secretary of Homeland Security.

"I'm sure some other horses will try to stop him there," Takter said, referring to Tom Ridge's preferred style of racing from the front. "I'm sure we'll try to drive an aggressive drive. This horse is a real special deal."

Eilean Donon, who won the other elimination race last Saturday in 1:54.2, was 9-2 in the morning line after drawing post three. Defending Trotter of the Year Cantab Hall, who was third in Eilean Donon's elim, drew the rail and was made the 7-2 second choice.
