The Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp Majestic Barriere (G1) featured the sprinting division, with a full field of fourteen going 1000 meters (about 5 furlongs) on the straightaway course for a 250,000-euro purse. 23-1 Desert Lord and 5-1 Moss Vale set the early pace while 17-10 favorite Reverence stalked them in third in a tightly bunched field for the first 3/8 of a mile. Jockey Jamie Spencer asked Desert Lord for his best strides when passing the 3/16 pole and he responded, pushing his neck in front for the win in a time of 54.80 over the "good" course. Reverence put in one final surge at the line to steal second place money from Moss Vale. The front three were 1 1/2 lengths clear of the rest of the field.
