Trainer Rod Millman said, "This is the best feeling I've ever had from racing. This is my first Group 1 race and it's a sensational feeling to win at this great meeting. The horse was never struggling. Coming into the straight I thought he might not get there but he's so tough. Sergeant Cecil is seven years old but he's not had a hard life so hopefully he'll be racing for a while yet. Next year we'll try again for the Ascot Gold Cup." Jockey Frankie Dettori added, "This is my 32nd Group 1 in France. I am delighted to win it with a horse who has been beaten last year at handicap level. After a Group 3 and then two Group 2s, he deserved to win a Group 1. You will have seen that he was really switched off at the back, this is really important as it saved his energy. His fans must have been afraid at the entrance to the straight. I knew that he had an unbelievable acceleration in the last 2 furlongs at this distance and I always believed in him."
