Medaglia D'Oro might be remembered best as the horse who finished second to Pleasantly Perfect in the Breeders' Cup Classic and the Dubai World Cup. During his four years on the track, he won the Travers, Strub, Jim Dandy, and San Felipe Stakes, as well as the Whitney, Donn, and Oaklawn Handicaps. He won 8 of 17 starts and earned $5.7 million, and earned triple-digit Beyer speed figures 15 times. His first foals arrive this spring, and he stands this year for $40,000. Brought out to the indoor courtyard of Stonewall's stallion barn, he appeared to not enjoy being surrounded by crowds of people and cameras flashing.
