During his racing days, Pleasantly Perfect was the star of California racing, winning the Goodwood in 2002 and 2003, the Breeders' Cup Classic at Santa Anita in 2003, and the Pacific Classic in 2004 for trainer Richard Mandella. He also shipped halfway around the world to capture the 2004 Dubai World Cup. After a third place finish to Ghostzapper in the 2004 Classic, he retired to Lane's End Farm to begin his stud career, with his first foals due to arrive this spring. With lifetime earnings of almost $7.8 million, he commands a fee of $40,000. Like any horse used to the winner's circle, he liked to pose for the many cameras pointed his way during the open house.
