For American racing fans, Giant's Causeway was the horse who finished second to Tiznow in the 2000 Breeders' Cup Classic, after a thrilling stretch duel with neither 3-year-old wanting to give an inch. To the Europeans, he equalled Nijinsky II's record of 5 consecutive Group 1 wins and is Storm Cat's best-ever son. The "Iron Horse" has passed on his tenacity to his offspring on both turf and dirt, which include such stars as Shamardal, Maids Causeway, Noble Causeway, First Samurai, Footstepsinthesand, and Diamond Omi. He stands for a fee of $300,000 at Ashford Stud. He was a true professional, posing for the cameras and allowing visitors to pet his nose.
