After winning the 2008 Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) at Belmont Park, Curlin increased his record to 11 wins in 15 starts with earnings of $10,246,800. This pushed him to the top of the all-time earnings list with former leader Cigar, who had $9,999,815 in earnings, to second place. He retired after his next start, a fourth place finish in the 2008 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at Santa Anita, with career earning of $10,501,800. Here is a collection of photos starting his 2007 and 2008 racing campaigns which earned him Horse of the Year honors for both years. The photos are presented in chronological order with two from after his retirement at Lane's End Farm in January 2009 where he is beginning his stud career. Enjoy!
