After winning the 2008 Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) at Belmont Park, Curlin increased his record to 11 wins in 15 starts with earnings of $10,246,800. This pushed him to the top of the all-time earnings list with former leader Cigar, who had $9,999,815 in earnings, to second place. He retired after his next start, a fourth place finish in the 2008 Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at Santa Anita, with career earning of $10,501,800. Here is a collection of photos starting his 2007 and 2008 racing campaigns which earned him Horse of the Year honors for both years.
