Champion race mare Zenyatta has been retired as of November 17, 2010. She ended her career with a record of 19 wins and one second in 20 lifetimes starts and total earnings of $7,304,580. She will go to Lane's End Farm in Kentucky but no plans for breeding her have been announced.
Personal Ensign 1984 - 2010
The undefeated champion mare Personal Ensign passed away from natural causes at age 26 on April 8, 2010. She won all 13 of her starts including a thrilling Breeders' Cup Distaff against Winning Colors. As a broodmare she produced three Grade 1 stakes winners from 11 foals.

1987 Kentucky Derby Alysheba, who moved into the Hall of Champions at the Kentucky Horse Park in 2008, had to be euthanized on March 27 due to injuries sustained in a fall in his stall. At the time, the 1987 Champion 3-year-old and 1988 Horse of the Year was the oldest living Kentucky Derby winner.
