A guide to learning about the Breeders' Cup online

The Breeders' Cup World Championships is the biggest event of the year in Thoroughbred horse racing with 15 races worth $26 million run over two days. First run in 1984, it rotates between various host tracks each year and is where all the best horses in the world come and annual championships are decided. In 2011 the Breeders' Cup will be at Louisville, KY,  on November 4-5 and it will move to Santa Anita in Arcadia, California, for 2012.

The months before the Breeders' Cup are filled with graded prep races. There is also a series of Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win and You're In" races where a win guarantees you a spot in the field for that division's championship race.
