The $2 million Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) saw a full field of fourteen 2-year-olds go to post with Circular Quay the 3-1 favorite over 7-2 Scat Daddy. 6-1 Principle Secret battled on the front end with 10-1 Stormello through a half in 46.67 before dropping from contention to eventually finish last. Circular Quay was unhurried early, racing at the back of the field with 15-1 Street Sense down the backstretch. Turning for home, jockey Calvin Borel asked Street Sense for run and got it, as the longshot got the jump on the favorite and surged ahead to a 4 length lead at the 1/8 pole. Street Sense drew off to a record 10 length margin of victory in 1:42.59 for the 1 1/16 mile trip. It was 2 1/4 length back from Circular Quay to 7-1 Great Huntger in third, while Scat Daddy was fourth.

Winning trainer Carl Nafzger said, "I didn't expect that kind of performance but I knew that he was a freaky kind of horse, a really nice horse. We love to win at Churchill. We always have. He's my Derby horse. I'd be a fool to say he wasn't." Jockey Calvin Borel added, "My strategy is always to come up the rail. The boss (Carl Nafzger) just told me to ride my race. That's why we do so good together. I just had so much horse. I wasn't worried about finding room. I believe he's one of the best 2-year-olds I've ever been on in my life and we'll see what he does from here."
