The $2 million Emirates Airline Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1) featured top older fillies and mares going 1 3/8 miles on the turf. 2004 winner and 2005 runner-up Ouija Board was back, and was the heavy 7-5 favorite in the field of ten which included 5-2 second choice Wait A While. 36-1 Dancing Edie was quickest out of the gate and dueled up front with 30-1 My Typhoon through a slow pace of 49.77 and 1:14.80, while jockey Frankie Dettori kept Ouija Board in close contention while covered up between horses around the first 2 turns of the 3 turn event. At the top of the stretch, Dettori turned the favorite loose and she responded, accelerating quickly to pass five horses to win going away by 2 1/4 lengths at the line in 2:14.55. 8-1 Film Maker finished second, holding off the late-running 9-1 Honey Ryder by a neck.
Winning trainer Ed Dunlop said, "She's the best.
There's no other way of saying it. She's won two Breeders' Cups and
finished second in another. I'm lucky to have had her in my life. It was
a dream run and a dream ride. Frankie said it's the best she's ever
been. She has the class to quicken and she showed it once again.
Fantastic result." Jockey Frankie Dettori added, "We were really excited coming into today
because of how great she's been running. Getting clear to the wire, I just enjoyed the ride. Not many
horses win two Breeders' Cups. She's done that. I'm very lucky to ride
her. We've been nervous for a while because we know how good she is. She
sure delivered to the public today. She's undoubtedly the best filly in the world
