The $2 million Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) decides the 2-year-old championship and often determines the early favorite for next year's Kentucky Derby. Favorite War Pass led at every call, sprinting clear along the rail and racing unchallenged down the backstretch. He opened a comfortable 7 length lead in mid-stretch and cruised under the line 4 3/4 lengths ahead of Pyro, who in turn as 12 lengths ahead of third place finisher Kodiak Kowboy. The running time was 1:42.76.

Winning trainer Nick Zito said, "I'm very excited. Wonderful horse. This is great. I never had an anxious moment. We did it exactly the way we said we would. He was just on the edge of 1:09 (for three-quarters), but no matter what, that's fast. He just kept going."

Jockey Cornelio Velasquez added, "My horse had a lot of speed. He wanted to go to the lead. At the quarter-pole, I asked and I had a lot of horse in the last part of the race."
