The Breeders' Cup World Championships went to a two day format in 2007 with three new races added, and for 2008 they added three more races and redistributed the 14 races over the two days. The five races run on Friday featured just the female races, headlined by the Ladies' Classic, formerly known as the Distaff, where Zenyatta drew off to win in near track record time to remain undefeated. Saturday's nine race card was capped off by the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic where Europeans invaders Raven's Pass and Henrythenavigator finished first and second, while favorite Curlin was a disappointing fourth.
