The highlight event is the richest race in North America, the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic Powered by Dodge (G1), a race which usually determines the 3-year-old champion and Horse of the Year. Curlin easily gained the lead in mid-stretch and drew off to a convincing 4 1/2 length win over Hard Spun in 2:00.59 over the sloppy, sealed track. Awesome Gem was third and Street Sense finished fourth.
