Friday included 6 races, all for fillies and mares only except the Marathon, making for an all Breeders' Cup Pick Six. Life Is Sweet rallied from last to win in the $2 million Ladies' Classic, while favorite Careless Jewel went to the front early then burned out to finish last. 2009 Breeders' Cup World Championships to be held at Santa Anita
Santa Anita Park will be the first track to host the Breeders' Cup World Championships in consecutive years. It was announced February 7, 2008, that the Arcadia, California track was selected to host the 2009 event. The 2008 Championships will also be held there.
